Children under 18 co-insured free of charge!
Children’s dental expenses are almost completely covered under the general insurance policy. If you know that your child will soon require a brace, you can consider taking out more comprehensive dental insurance to co-insure your child at no extra cost. But don’t wait too long: orthodontic care is often subject to a waiting period of 1 year.

Frequently asked questions
Will I be reimbursed for dental care under the general insurance policy?
From the age of 18, you will no longer receive reimbursem*nt for normal dental expenses under the general insurance policy. If you require dentures, an implant-retained denture, dental surgery and oral care in special cases, you may receive a reimbursem*nt under the general insurance policy.
Children under 18 do receive a reimbursem*nt under the general insurance policy, but not for orthodontics.
Does my deductible apply to visits to the dentist?
No, your deductible does not apply to normal dental expenses. If you require dentures, an implant-retained denture, dental surgery and oral care in special cases, your deductible does apply.
Furthermore, the deductible never applies in the case of children under 18.
Will I be reimbursed for dental care after an accident?
Only if you have an additional insurance package or dental insurance with us. These packages include cover for dental care after an accident up to an amount of €10,000.
Do I need a dentist’s statement?
Only in the case of the comprehensive dental insurance policy. You do not need a statement for any of our other packages.
Will I be reimbursed for dental care immediately or is there a waiting period?
You receive an immediate reimbursem*nt from us for normal dental care. For orthodontics, a one-year waiting period applies. In other words, you pay the premium for one year first, and are entitled to a reimbursem*nt from the second year onwards.
If you have the ‘Jongeren’ additional insurance package, the waiting period does not apply.
When do I need to take out an dental insurance?
Choose your dental insurance before the 1st of January.
Do I need a dental insurance?
Do you often suffer from fillings, do you go more than 2 times a year to the dentist, or you don't want to be surprised with unexpected dental care costs? In those cases you should choose a dental insurance.
Are you going only once or twice a year to the dentist for a check-up? Then it is not necessary to choose a dental insurance.
Which costs will be reimbursed with a dental insurance?
With an additional dental insurance you will be reimbursed for:
- Regular check-ups
- Dentistry such as tooth extraction, fillings and root canal treatments
- Dentistry such as crowns, denture repair and implants
- Orthodontics
- Oral care following an accident
How much exactly you will get reimbursed, depends on the type of dental insurance you choose.
